If one wants an example of the Newberry Springs Community Services District's (CSD) ineptness, one only has to look at the existence of the Cadiz Water Committee.

The committee was organized by the CSD Chair, Paula Deel.
The question to ask, is why?

IMHO, the committee is a mistake. It is diverting the CSD's concentration away from the new fire station and park developments. The Cadiz, Inc. Northern Pipeline's probability of ever conveying water is zilch.  So what happened?  Why are we here?

Rose Beardshear got the local Chamber, and the community, all worked up in a free water frenzy.  She was naïvely suckered in by a slick water scheme that has successfully seduced many mature investors for tens of millions of dollars.  Beardshear means well but her acts have been damaging.

How do you respond to gullible people who are taken in by con artists?  Comedians say that you have to out-dumb them.  But in the real world, that is impossible.

I have had people tell me that a certain Chamber member has been telling others that what I have published regarding Cadiz, Inc. isn't factual (that I have lied).  This accusation comes from someone too lazy to do basic research.

Except where I have expressed my opinion, all of the facts that I have presented are true and verifiable. The State of California and the federal government have the Northern Pipeline so tied up in unachievable hurdles that the project is dead.

Unfortunately, some Newberrians, being Newberrians, would rather believe the slick sales pitch of Cadiz, Inc., which is desperately fighting for survival.

In reading the (above) Agenda for the January 20, 2026, meeting, there are instructions in the Agenda that are extremely biased and are sanctioned by the CSD President, Paula Deel, that reads, "This is not a committee to decide the merits of the Cadiz Water Project - that is for a different venue. If we do not respond to this offer and the powers that be  approve the Cadiz Water Project, Newberry Springs loses for sure."

This I take as a direct attempt to silence my previously presented facts. The merits of the Northern Pipeline need to be discussed upfront. The foundation of everything else is predicated upon whether the Northern Pipeline has any viability.

Why should the CSD continue to spend time and money on a farse?  We have had too much incompetence in the past.

The CSD has been operating inefficiently for too many decades. The CSD President has obviously already decided that the project will be beneficial and that Newberry needs to act or Newberry "loses for sure."

I can only say for sure, there isn't any Cadiz water out there to lose. I have packaged the facts that prove it, which have been previously published for everyone on the N.S. Community Alliance website.

Cadiz, Inc. is selling something that it can not deliver. It is trying to sucker this naïve disadvantaged community into surrendering an MOU so Cadiz, Inc. can acquire federal funds to pump our Mojave Desert water for sale to Arizona and/or the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which would benefit the water management of the states tied to Lake Powell and Lake Mead.

I strongly recommend that all members of the Cadiz Water Committee and public attendees pre-read the CadizWater.com website before attending the meeting, for wisdom on Cadiz, Inc.

In closing, the above Agenda's instruction states, "If the Cadiz water project is successful..."  The facts presented in the CadizWater.com website substantiates that the Northern Pipeline has failed to acquire the authorizations necessary to convey water.  The pipeline is dead. The subject is moot.  Wasting time in negotiating an MOU with Cadiz, Inc. would be really dumb and would seriously damage a neighboring region of our desert.
