INCIDENT:  Barricaded suspect / Search Warrant

LOCATION:  45000 block of Esperanza Rd, Newberry Springs

SUSPECT:  Tanan Pruett, 28 years of age, resident of Newberry Springs

SUMMARY

On Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at approximately 5:30 P.M., deputies from the Barstow Sheriff's Station responded to the 45000 block of Esperanza Road in Newberry Springs.  Sheriff's Dispatch received information from the reporting party that Tanan Pruett was observed at a residence in the area.  It was determined Pruett had an active parole violation warrant for his arrest.

Deputies requested assistance from Sheriff's Aviation (40K6).  Sheriff's Aviation responded to the area and maintained observations on the location until deputies arrived on scene.  When responding deputies arrived at the residence they heard the front door of the location slam shut.  They quickly established a perimeter around the location.  Deputies could hear the subject inside the location moving large items of furniture in an attempt to barricade the front door of the residence.

Deputies at the location began to make PA announcements to the subject inside the location, attempting to get his voluntary compliance.  Pruett did not respond to the announcements and refused to exit the location.

Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division responded to the incident location to assist with the barricaded subject.  Detectives assigned to the Barstow Sheriff's Station authored a search warrant for the location.  Prior to the service of the search warrant Pruett exited the location and was taken into custody without incident.  He was booked into the Barstow Jail on the active Parole Violation Warrant.  Additional criminal charges are pending.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective John Parks or Detective Gary McWilliams of the Barstow Sheriff's Station (760) 256-4838.  Callers wishing to remain anonymous are urged to call the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or you may leave information on the We-Tip Hotline at www.wetip.com.
