Lockdown Due To Threat

INCIDENT:  Threat toward student via social media.

LOCATION:  Silver Valley High School 35484 Daggett-Yermo Rd. Daggett, CA

SUSPECTS:  Unidentified

VICTIM:  Confidential - Silver Valley High School student.

SUMMARY

    On October 7, 2015, Silver Valley High School was scheduled for a minimum day.  At approximately 10:30 A.M., a student received a threatening message via social media.  The threat was not toward the student who received it, but toward another student who attends Silver Valley High School.  The threat involved a possible shooting.

    The student reported the message to school staff, who immediately initiated a lock-down of the campus and notified Deputy Rodriguez, the School Resource Officer.  A search of the campus was conducted while students remained inside locked classrooms.  The search of Silver Valley High School revealed no suspicious persons, vehicles or objects.  Additional deputies from the Barstow Sheriff's Station responded and the students were escorted to their respective bus.

    Deputy Rodriguez is continuing his investigation into the source of the social media message.  Anyone with additional information is requested to contact Deputy Rodriguez at the Barstow Station.
