With perfect weather, the Newberry Springs Volunteer Fire
Department (NSVFD) held its highly anticipated "push-in" celebration for
its new Engine 392 pumper on Saturday, February 24th.
The event drew a supportive crowd, with attendees treated
to a delicious spread of pizzas, assorted cookies, and refreshing drinks.
To the delight of the younger guests (and the young at heart), the
department also distributed neat-o plastic fire helmets and coloring books.
The heart of the ceremony involved a traditional "push-in,"
where community members joined forces with NSVFD volunteers to ceremoniously
push the pumper into its bay, officially marking its entry into service.
Following the successful "push-in," Engine 392 proudly
fulfilled its first official duty, offering the public the opportunity to
ride in the new vehicle.
This event underscores the vital role played by the NSVFD
in keeping the community safe. The arrival of Engine 392 marks a significant
upgrade and strengthens the department's capability to respond to emergencies
effectively.
The positive turnout at the "push-in" ceremony further
emphasizes the strong sense of community spirit in Newberry Springs and the
public's appreciation for the dedicated service of their local firefighters.
