INCIDENT: Attempted Murder
LOCATION: 35000 block of Santa Fe Street, Daggett
SUSPECT: John Hernandez, 35 year old resident of Newberry Springs

SUMMARY
On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at approximately 3:00 P.M. deputies
from the Barstow Sheriff's Station responded to the 35000 block of Santa Fe Steet in Daggett
for a report of a subject being shot at the location.
Upon arrival, deputies determined the suspect, John Hernandez, was involved
in a physical altercation with the victim. During the altercation the suspect shot the victim.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his
injuries. Hernandez was seen running from the scene. Responding deputies saw
Hernandez north of the location in the open desert and tracked him to the Desert Springs RV Park.
Deputies located Hernandez inside a trailer within the park. Hernandez
was taken into custody and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder.
