2022 Pistachio Festival

The Pistachio Festival in Newberry Springs, held
Saturday, November 5, 2022, was the largest held to date. The
number of vendors were about 1/3 more than in previous events.
The festival, now under the production of a new
Chamber of Commerce organization headed by president, Rose Beardshear,
was enjoyed by many from Newberry Springs and afar.
One very popular new attraction this year was the
addition of kickball (see the above photo). Games were pre-organized
and promoted by CSD candidate, Mike Matson. Mike Matson is
responsible for spearheading the recently remodeled ball field that is
largely aimed to support his proposed little league baseball plans.
Early morning visitors explore the wares of the many stalls.
While all of the organizers are to be congratulated
for having such a great turnout, I did limit my time at the festival.
I felt an internal anger and betrayal that the Chamber had accepted a
large monetary sponsorship from Clearway Energy and permitted a
Clearway Energy promotional stall.
Again, Newberry organizations continue to sell out their
integrity to those who injure and damage the lives of our residents.
For that, disgusting shame on the Newberry Chamber.
I walked, enjoyed chatting with a number of my neighbors,
donated to a couple of worthy causes, and I was gone in 2 hours without
any purchases. As much as I would have liked to have supported the
vendors, the festival for me was a soiled venue.
An ineffective fiddling Nero while Newberry suffers.
