Of disappointment to many at the recent Barstow Congressional debate was the noticeable absence of local Democrat candidate Jackie Conaway.  Her personal invitation to participate in the debate was declined in an e-mail addressed to a Desert Dispatch reporter, and cc'd to the co-hosting membership of The Patriot Forum by her husband.

In the e-mail, Bob Conaway indicated that Jackie Conaway would not appear because the "forum" would have Republican candidates.  Perhaps Bob doesn't understand Proposition 14, the Top Two Primaries Act, passed by the California voters in 2010 that requires all candidates to run on a single primary ballot in which voters, regardless of their political affiliation, can now vote for any candidate; and candidates can chose not to have their political affiliation displayed on the ballot, such as with Anthony Adams.  The top two vote getters then compete in the November election.

More than ever before, responsible voters are seeking information on all candidates.

Bob Conaway also indicated that Jackie would not appear because his wife needed more time than allotted to respond to in-depth complex national questions.  Yet, in a political video posted by the Mojave Free Press to YouTube, Jackie Conaway puts forth her simplistic views on the national issues of water quality, civil rights, social security, medicare, government spending, and "food and shelter, and clothing, and jobs, health care"...  all in a somewhat rambling and incoherent 2-minutes.

Bob Conaway's e-mail further attacked the moderator, Sharron Angle, claiming Angle has an "extremist agenda" and he injected statements ragging that some of the other candidates are not good people.

As the community of Newberry Springs and greater Barstow would like to better know its local candidate, the Community Alliance has sent Jackie Conaway two e-mail invitations after the debate to do a video interview during which she would be allowed to fully present her in-depth answers to questions on matters of national importance that she is hoping to guide this nation as an elected Congresswoman.

The two invitations have not been responded to.  This is alarming because it has now become apparent by her multiple refusals that Jackie Conaway is afraid to publicly show herself in an uncontrolled setting.  There is also a suspicion that her medical issues could now be hampering her ability to make appearances.

Furthermore, she snubbed the recent Victorville Congressional debate where she was also invited.  All of the other candidates attended it except for one who had a major fundraiser that night.  Why wasn't Jackie Conaway there?

How can a candidate run for the demanding job of a Congresswoman and not be willing to do everything necessary to attend a few public appearances and interviews?

What is she covering up?

If Jackie Conaway refuses to be transparent and responsive to her constituents when she is asking for the job, how arrogrant will she be when elected and thousands of miles away?

The House has an average annual budget of $1.25 million for each representative's office.  The House is principally responsible for the federal spending of trillions of dollars.  A Congressperson's responsibility is awesome.

Everything from Conaway's campaign appears to be filtered through her husband and/or written by ghost writers.  She appears to be running on no substance and is solely relying upon her name recognition from repeated unsuccessful political campaigns and her political ticket designation.

Surprisingly, Jackie Conaway may likely reach the November ballot under the new top two vote gathering system.  Many unsavvy voters simply vote according to a candidate's political affiliation printed on the ballot.

John Pinkerton, who took-on and held his own against 6 Republican candidates at the Barstow and Victorville debates, is the only other Democrat candidate splitting the liberal Democrat vote; while the conservative Republican vote is split by 10 contenders.  Doing simple math, both Democrat candidates stand a good chance of advancing June 5.
